Jackson McAndrew is looking like the next great prospect that will come out of Minnesota. The Minnesota high school basketball scene has been growing rapidly over this past decade and Jackson McAndrew is going to help it continue. McAndrew is a 6’9 versatile wing that plays for Wayzata and he recently lead them to a state championship win over #1 ranked Park Center. In this article, I will highlight why Jackson McAndrew is such a unique prospect.

Right Now, McAndrew is only ranked as a 3 star on most recruiting websites. I believe that he will only go up in the rankings. Jackson McAndrew is the perfect player for today’s modern style of basketball; he is the prospect every recruiter wants. McAndrew is a 6’9 player who can do it all. McAndrew shot an absurd 17/32 from three during the second EYCL session in Phoenix. McAndrew is a lights out shooter and he has showcased that on the biggest level of high school basketball. Some people classify him as one of the best shooters in the country. He can score at all three levels, he has a silky smooth jumper and a soft touch around the rim. Right Now McAndrew is averaging an outstanding 17 points and shooting 48.7 percent from three in the NIke EYCL circuit. He is putting the country on notice after some amazing performances for team Howard Pulley.

The skill that makes McAndrew such a special prospect is his handle. McAndrew’s handles are amazing for a guy his size. His handle allows him to break down and blow by his defenders. His handles went viral after he put his defender in a blender and finished off the play with a flashy euro step finish in the state championship game. McAndrew’s handle has allowed him to take his game to another level.

McAndrew showed that he is a clutch player after two big time performances in the Minnesota state semi-finals and the state championship game. McAndrew is the type of player that you want shooting the last shot or hitting free throws to ice the game. He scored 28 points in the state semi finals in a tight 79-77 win over Lakeville North. He also scored 25 points in the state championship and he was hitting shot after shot down the stretch for the Trojans. Here is a clip from when McAndrew hit the go ahead three in overtime in the state championship:

Recruitment

Jackson McAndrew has received 9 division one offers so far and after this AAU season that number may be doubled. McAndrew has taken two official visits to Wisconsin and Creighton and he also took and unofficial visit to Iowa. Recently after impressive play on the EYCL circuit, he has received two ACC offers from Notre Dame and Virginia Tech. The Minnesota Gophers have yet to offer McAndrew for some reason. He would be a hometown star for the gophers. Currently, McAndrew does not have a crystal ball for his college commitment but it looks like he will be playing somewhere in the Big Ten.

Jackson McAndrew is a unicorn type prospect and his ceiling and potential continues to grow.
