Andy Stefonowicz is one of the most underrated players in Minnesota. NDSU fans should be really excited about his commitment. Stefonowicz chose NDSU over hometown school St. Thomas on Thursday afternoon. He has major family ties with NDSU. His father, Rob Stefonowicz, played basketball for NDSU from 1990-1994. Also, his mother Jody Buck was an NDSU legend. She led the Bison to win 2 division two national championships. Stefonowicz looks to keep the family legacy strong at NDSU.

He was the second player to commit to the Bison for their 2024 recruiting class. He will join Treyson Anderson as players to commit to NDSU.

The Bison coaching staff believed in Stefonowicz very early on, as they gave him an offer all the way back in August of 2022. This trust from the coaching staff was very important for Andy and it played a major factor in his decision.

As a Prospect

Stefonowicz is a 6’2 point guard who plays for Minnetonka high school and Howard Pulley during AAU. He probably has some of the best passing vision in Minnesota. Some scouts classify him as the best passer in the state. Stefonowicz averaged 4.1 assists for Howard Pulley this spring, which is top 10 on the Nike EYCL circuit. He showed that he could break down defenses on the top level of high school basketball. He looks like a quarterback while on the court, as he is always putting passes in perfect spots to set up his teammates up for easy baskets.

Andy has also proved that he can score as well. He already hit 1,000 points as junior playing for one of the biggest schools in Minnesota. Stefonowicz averaged 16 points per game last season for a loaded Minnetonka squad . He is elite at changing speeds to help get himself open and he has a smooth outside shot. His smooth outside shot allows him to hit threes off the dribble and off the catch and shoot. Stefonowicz is not the most athletic guy, so he gets very crafty with his finishes around the rim.

Overall, Andy Stefonowicz is a wizard at passing; his IQ and vision is unmatched. He also is a great perimeter shooter who can hit an array of outside shots. He will be a great floor general at the college level and he will look to continue the success of his parents at NDSU.
