Jayden Moore looks like the future of Minnesota high school basketball. He has the potential to be a 5 star recruit as his career goes on. Moore was the best player for Hopkins high school last season as a freshman, which is very rare. But Jayden Moore was not just one of the best freshman in Minnesota, he was one of the best in the whole country. He was named to the MaxPreps High School Basketball Freshman All-America Team. Moore earned first team honors, which meant that he was one the best freshman point guards in America this past season.
During his freshman season, he averaged 20.8 points and 7.8 assists, and 7.9 rebounds. Moore proved that he is much more than a scorer. His 7.9 rebounds as a 6’0 point guard just shows how high of motor he has. Moore’s high motor turned into a lot of winning basketball for Hopkins this past season. A “supposedly rebuilding” Hopkins went on to have a record of 19-9 and they made it all the way to the section 6AAAA title game. Jayden Moore and Hopkins fell just short to the future state champions Wayzata as they lost 66-71.
As a Prospect
Jayden Moore is a 6’0 point guard who can do it all on the court. He can takeover the game in multiple ways. His IQ is way ahead of his grade level. Most Minnesota basketball experts classify Jayden Moore as the best floor general in the state no matter the class. Time and time again, Moore has showcased that his playmaking skills are unmatched. His elite speed combined with amazing handles allows to him get easy buckets and set up his teammates up for wide open shots. Moore reminds me of John Wall the way he pushes the ball up the court in transition. He also is a great on-ball defender as he had multiple games this past season with 5+ steals.
We cannot forget about Jayden Moore’s scoring. Moore is one of the most explosive scorers in the state of Minnesota. He almost has 1,000 points already in his very young career.
His super deep bag of moves helps make scoring look easy. Moore’s tight handle allows him to be a great space creator to set up open shots for himself. He can hit three’s off the dribble pull up and the catch and shoot. Moore also excels at hitting tough floaters and jumpers from the mid range area. He is also a very crafty finisher around the rim.
Recruitment
Moore is only a freshman so he does not have much recruiting buzz yet. He also is not old enough to be a part of any rankings from the major recruiting websites yet.
According to his Instagram, he has earned offers from West Virginia and Baylor. West Virginia and Baylor are pretty tough offers to earn at such a young age.
Jayden Moore definitely has plenty of offers to come in his career. He will probably see himself in those early top 25 rankings when the class of 2026 rankings come out. Moore’s stock will continue to rise as he gets older and as he gets more recognition during AAU.
