Jackson McAndrew, Minnesota’s top prospect in the class of 2024 has just committed to the Creighton Blue Jays. McAndrew chose Creighton over schools like Wisconsin, Xavier, and Notre Dame. The 6’9 forward is one of fastest rising recruits in the country. He started this year off unranked and now he is ranked as a 4 star on most recruiting platforms. His stock will continue to rise as his senior season goes along and don’t be surprised if he becomes a top 40 player by the end of the year.

Many of the scouts and media classify McAndrew as one of the top shooters in the whole country. He had NBA scouts and college coaches drooling over his shooting skills and mechanics during the Nike Peach Jam. One NBA scout even said, “he is the best shooter here” while watching him at Peach Jam.

I have also watched McAndrew hold his own against pros a few times this summer at the Twin Cities Pro-Am. Anytime he is on the court he makes his presence felt. Here are some picture my friend Nolan Weiner got of McAndrew at the Pro-Am on Monday night.

In McAndrew’s commitment interview with 247 Sports he said that the coaching staff, playstyle, and the player development were his main reasons for choosing Creighton. The Blue Jays are known for their 3 point shooting and they have produced amazing NBA shooters like Kyle Korver and Doug McDermott. As the pure shooter he is, McAndrew will fit right in with Creighton.

As a Prospect

Jackson McAndrew is the perfect player for today’s modern style of basketball; he is the prospect every recruiter wants. McAndrew is a 6’9 pure sharp shooter with a few hidden skills. McAndrew shot an absurd 17/32 from three during the second EYCL session in Phoenix this spring. McAndrew is a lights out shooter and he has showcased that on the biggest level of high school basketball. He can score at all three levels, he has a silky smooth jumper but he also has a soft touch around the rim. McAndrew averaged an outstanding 18.3 points and he around 40 percent percent from three at the Nike Peach Jam.

The skill that makes McAndrew such a special prospect is his handle. McAndrew’s handles are amazing for a guy his size. His handle allows him to break down and blow by his defenders. His handles went viral after he put his defender in a blender and finished off the play with a flashy euro step finish in the Minnesota state championship game. His potential is through the roof since he can shoot and handle the ball well being 6’9.

McAndrew should continue to grow as a player and I even think he some NBA potential. Choosing Creighton was great for him and his playstyle. Hopefully they can develop him into a modern Kyle Korver. It will be exciting to watch McAndrew dominate Minnesota high school basketball this upcoming season.
